Happy first day of autumn, folks! This photo was taken by the wonderful Jenn Munro this past July. It’s not far off from my everyday reality. Preparing food with my baby in my arms. Sometimes, there is a toddler and a 5-year old standing on a chair next to me, “helping out mama” or just observing. Serious multi-tasking that sometimes goes haywire or just extends all day (like, the laundry that never gets folded). Baking a cake, for instance, involves several steps. On day one, I source my ingredients. On the second day, I make the cake. Finally, on the third day, I make the icing, decorate it and if it is going on the blog, attempt to take some decent photographs. The third is the trickiest for sure. But, I wouldn’t change it for the world.
Inspired by all types of mamas and recognizing that there is lots of support out there, here are five articles to read this weekend:
One Thing That Has Surprised Me About Parenting | Cup of Jo
Joanna has beautifully written about motherhood for years. This piece has received a huge reaction and for good reason. Everyone feels the “ache” but we don’t talk about it. Here, lots of women tap into sadness when you're done having children.
Modern Parenting: To Chore or Not to Chore | Design for Mankind
Also, how to scan a room (my favourite).
Some days, I feel like the worst mom ever | Justine Lorelle LoMonaco
We all have our days. Here are some ways to make them better and know that we're all in this together!
At Home With Elle Stauss & Daughters | The Glow
Words of wisdom (and beautiful photographs) from a working mama with two daughters.
Mom Lunches | The Faux Martha
While I don’t agree that yoga pants should be a mom uniform, I do agree with making good food and looking after yourself. Here’s how to do it.
Happy reading! What are your plans? We're heading off to a harvest festival. Crossing my fingers for good weather!
