I decided to branch out a bit with the blog. To share stories beyond that of the baking and food realm. The title yet, is undecided but I like the idea of doing a weekly recap of interesting tidbits and facts in the arts, science, politics, online and print. I am also interested in the things that people make, why they make them and things that add beauty to our spaces and places. So enjoy! I would love any feedback that you would be willing to share in the comments below. What made your week?
1. The Historic Women’s March
A beautiful, photographic recap in photos plus, input on what is next?
2. Joys and tastes of brown butter.
I finally tried a recipe with browned butter. This trend came out 100 years ago on Instagram and the baking world but I was skeptical. Well, I no longer feel that way. I just made the “Barely Brown Butter Cake” from Milk: Momofuku Milk Bar bake book and I am a convert. This cake, of course, was part of the #cakeproject Apple Pie Layer Cake that I made for my daughter’s small birthday party this weekend. Best of all, nothing was wasted! The cake scraps were used to make cake truffles (see photo above).
3. A new print magazine (for me) with beautiful photography.
This was one of the amazing sponsors of the workshop I attended last weekend.
4. Postpartum Rest and Recovery
A raw and honest blog post with resources.
5. CBC Radio Show Q: The Music with Dragonette and Aurora
A 50 minute radio episode with Tom Power to listen to while you're in the car.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
